Welcome, I'm gina

I didn’t start Mad Raven because I wanted to create perfect pictures. I started it because I know how quickly life changes and how much the ordinary moments end up meaning.
I first picked up photography my senior year of high school in 2009, which feels mildly offensive to admit out loud, and I fell in love. I went on to take photography courses in college, but it wasn’t until I became a mom that photography became something entirely different to me.
Suddenly, I couldn’t put my camera or, let’s be real, my phone down. I wanted to hold onto everything. The tiny details. The personalities. The chaos. The way a moment could feel completely ordinary while you were living it and impossibly important once it was gone.
In 2018, I finally shared that love with other families and officially started my photography business.
My style has grown and changed over the years, but the reason I photograph people never has. I don’t just want a beautiful photo. I want a story.
I want movement. Connection. Passion. Light spilling through the frame. Kids being kids and couples forgetting for a second that there’s a camera pointed at them. I’ll always take the classic photo of everyone looking at the camera, but the images I love most are the ones that feel like something.
Because someday, I don’t just want you to remember what this season of your life looked like. I want you to remember what it felt like.

A little less posing, a lot more living

I’ll guide you when you need it, but I never want your session to feel like a performance. We’ll move, play, laugh, snuggle, chase kids, fix flyaways and probably embrace a little chaos along the way.

Because the photos worth keeping aren’t always the perfectly posed ones. They’re the way your child reaches for you, the look you give your person when you think no one is watching, and all the tiny in between moments that make your life yours.

WHAT I NOTICE. WHAT I NOTICE. WHAT I NOTICE.

Ready when you are

let's make something real

The wild,  the tender, the beautifully imperfect.
Your story deserves to be remembered exactly as it felt.
